GCSU Concert BandBelow are my photos for the GCSU Concert Bands concert. The theme for the concert was the universe. The show even included a power point presentation on the planet Jupiter.

![]() In the final piece of the concert, the idea to create a look similar to Jupiter itself on the cyclorama was developed. This picture is the Concert Band playing in front of that image. |
![]() The concert featured a guest speaker, Beate Czogalla, who talked about the planet jupiter in her full NASA regalla. The challenge presented here was to light the guest speaker while not spilling the light onto the projection screen. Meanwhile, I was also charged with the task of making the stage interesting. The solution to this problem was simple. I used a highlight on the speakers post and used strong blue lighting on the cyclorama. This silhouetted the performers and made the edges of the projection screen seem to magically glow. It was interesting while not distracting, and no spill hit the projection screen. |
![]() Everytime I have designed lighting for a band, they have all said the same thing first and foremost. "We have to be able to see our music." This is entirely understandable, but it makes lighting more difficult. Using a combination of lavender side and downlights, I was able to achieve complete visibillity without ruining my abillity to light the show artistically. |
